Biogas

Landfill gas is a type of biogas produced through the anaerobic decomposition of organic waste in municipal landfills. It is rich in methane, a highly flammable and potent greenhouse gas that contributes significantly to climate change. Without proper collection and control, this gas can pose serious risks to both public safety and the surrounding environment. Effective management is essential to mitigate these hazards and harness landfill gas as a renewable energy source.

Gas-to-Energy

Gas-to-energy facilities process landfill gas by dewatering, filtering, and compressing it before delivering it to on-site engines or turbines for electricity generation.

Landfill Gas Extraction Systems

Landfill gas recovery systems play a key role in transforming waste into renewable energy. These systems use a network of vertical wells and high-durability plastic piping to extract methane and other gases from within the landfill. Once collected, the gas is directed to powerful blowers and compressors, which pressurize it for electricity generation or thermal applications. Our engineered solutions are designed to optimize gas flow, reduce emissions, and ensure long-term system efficiency for municipalities and energy developers.

Biogas digesters

Biogas Digesters receive organic matter, which decomposes in a digestion chamber. The digestion chamber is fully submerged in water, making it an anaerobic (oxygen-free) environment. The anaerobic environment allows for microorganisms to break down the organic material and convert it into biogas.

Anaerobic Digestion

Anaerobic digestion is a process through which bacteria break down organic matter—such as animal manure, wastewater biosolids, and food wastes—in the absence of oxygen.

Landfill Gas to Energy

Landfill gases are fed into a collection system which consists of a series of wells drilled into a landfill through a plastic piping system to later produce electricity. Basically, the gas is collected using specialized collection systems before they are evacuated from the landfill and then compressed using blowers and compressors.

Flare Blower

Air-assisted flares utilize high-efficiency blowers to inject assist air directly into the waste gas stream at the flare tip, ensuring smokeless operation, cleaner emissions, and extended flare tip lifespan

ENERGY-SAVING BIOGAS SYSTEMS – AND MORE

A biodigester system utilizes organic waste, particularly animal and human excreta, to produce fertilizer and biogas. A bio digester consists of an airtight, high-density polyethylene container within which excreta diluted in water flow continuously and are fermented by microorganisms present in the waste. A Biogas Digesters can be classified as high rate (contact stabilization, fixed film, suspended media, and sequencing batch), and as passive (covered lagoons), low rate (complete mix, plug flow, mixed plug flow). All reactors perform the same basic function, but each type operates at an optimal manure consistency.

Lone Star Turbo provides complete centrifugal blower and compressor Solutions tailored to biogas and landfill gas systems. Our energy-efficient designs support both municipal and industrial plants, helping clients meet stringent environmental and operational standards. From system design and layout to installation and long-term service, we deliver full lifecycle support for your gas compression needs.

Our packaged systems support a wide range of applications—from gas recovery, compression, and flaring to power generation and renewable fuel production. Typical uses include biogas and landfill gas blowers, methane handling, siloxane removal, flare systems, vacuum extraction, and more. Each application benefits from Lone Star Turbo’s advanced air-moving equipment, including Multistage Centrifugal Blowers, High-Speed Turbo Blowers, and fully Packaged Systems designed to handle gas flow, pressure, and vacuum operations.

Our Multistage Centrifugal Blowers (MSCBs) are directly coupled to induction motors and offer performance flexibility based on impeller diameter (flow) and stage count (pressure). Lone Star MSCBs can feature up to 16 impellers with optimized geometries to match your project’s performance curve.

Lone Star Rental also maintains a large inventory of ready-to-deploy blowers and compressors with motor starters, Variable Frequency Drives (VFDs), PLC controls, and remote monitoring—ready for emergencies or long-term needs.

As an ISO 9001 and UL-508A certified manufacturer, Lone Star Turbo offers more than just rental equipment—we deliver complete, high-quality solutions tailored to your needs. In addition to rentals, we provide expert maintenance services, system upgrades, and full technical support for your existing blowers and compressors. For customers seeking a permanent installation, we offer fully packaged systems complete with motors, accessories, and custom-built control panels to ensure seamless integration and reliable operation.
